COLLEGE OF COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION LAWYERS ANNOUNCES THE 2023 LAW SEMINAR BEST MANUSCRIPT AWARD

5/4/2023  -  Falls Church, VA

May 4, 2023 — Falls Church, Va. — Community Associations Institute and the College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL) are proud to announce the recipient of the 2023 Community Association Law Seminar Best Manuscript Award: “Not So Fast: Combating Marketable Title Acts to Preserve Community Restrictions."

Presented by community association attorneys Kayleigh Long, a member of Hirzel Law in Farmington, Mich., and Nicholas J. Meinert, an associate with Kaman & Cusimano in Columbus, Ohio, the “Not So Fast" session was delivered during the 2023 Community Association Law Seminar, held Jan. 1114 in New Orleans.

Since 2014, a committee of attorneys has reviewed each manuscript presented at the annual Community Association Law Seminar and selected one that best reflects the dedication of the presenters and the quality of education. The best manuscript content serves as benchmarks for future Law Seminars and is published as new educational content and resources for community association attorneys, homeowner leaders serving on their community's governing boards, and community managers working with planned communities.

This year, attorneys and CCAL fellows Lynn Krupnik with Krupnik & Speas in Phoenix, Anthony Rafel with Rafel Law Group in Seattle, and Kim O'Halloran-Perez with Rees Broome in Tysons Corner, Va., reviewed over 19 manuscripts.

CAI's Community Association Law Seminar is the premiere continuing legal education conference exploring trends and practices in community association law. Each session at the event is required to have an accompanying manuscript.

“Not So Fast: Combating Marketable Title Acts to Preserve Community Restrictions" was recorded and is available to CAI members ($69) and nonmembers ($99) through a 120-day subscription.
