Community Associations Institute (CAI), the leading authority in community association governance, education, and management, welcomes John Hammersmith, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, as its 2018 president.
Hammersmith, chief executive officer of Hammersmith Management Inc., in Denver, Colo., began his term as CAI's president on Jan. 1. He leads the Institute's 15-member Board of Trustees, composed of distinguished community association industry leaders, and CAI's three Membership Representation Groups (MRGs) that work on behalf of CAI's primary member groups: homeowners, community managers, and business partners. Cat Carmichael, CMCA, PCAM, senior vice president and director of HOA and property management banking for Pacific Premier Bank in Irvine, Calif., is serving as president-elect.
“Community associations increasingly are being called on to play a significant role in the way we live, learn, work, and play," says Thomas M. Skiba, CAE, CAI's chief executive officer. “The dedicated men and women who volunteer their time and expertise as CAI leaders are instrumental to our organization and industry's overall success."
“Realizing and understanding the influence of today's community association leaders, community managers, and business partners will help us all seize new opportunities while navigating the challenges of change," says Hammersmith. “In 2018, we will continue to explore CAI's impact on the global stage. And with CAI's sustained membership growth and 63 chapters throughout the United States, Canada, South Africa, and the Middle East, we will maintain our tradition as the premier organization for education, networking, and cutting-edge information services for community associations."
