Lincoln W. Hobbs, a partner in the Utah law firm of Hobbs & Olson, L.C., has been elected president of Community Associations Institute's prestigious College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL). His one-year term began Jan. 1.

Recognized locally and nationally for his contributions to condominium and community association law, Hobbs is known for his willingness to share his expansive knowledge and expert perspective. He is a popular lecturer with a long record of service to CAI and founder of CAI's Utah chapter. Hobbs has also served as president of the Foundation for Community Association Research and continues to contribute as a member of that group's research subcommittee. He has served on the CCAL board since 2013.

"Being elected by my peers to serve as president of this distinguished college is one of the greatest honors of my career," Hobbs says. "I am proud to be in the company of some of the best community association attorneys in the world, professionals who have a demonstrated commitment to the success of the community association housing model."

Established in 1993 by the CAI Board of Trustees, CCAL provides a forum for the exchange of information among experienced legal professionals working in the community association field. Its goals include promoting high standards of professional and ethical responsibility, improving and advancing community association law and practice, and facilitating the development of educational materials and programming pertaining to legal issues.

CCAL members also are actively involved in state and federal legislative activities and prepare amicus curiae (friend-of-the-court) briefs on critical judicial cases that affect common-interest communities.
