The College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL) is proud to announce Matt D. Ober, Esq., as president of the 2019 CCAL Board of Governors. Ober, a principal of Richardson | Ober in Southern California, brings nearly 35 years of experience in the areas of common-interest development, residential real estate and contracts law, litigation, and defect claims recovery. Ober presides over the firm's highly regarded community association law practice, providing full-service representation to common-interest developments throughout California. Mr. Ober is a recognized leader, noted author, featured speaker and faculty member on all aspects of the community association industry. He has earned the Martindale-Hubell “AV" peer review rating signifying the highest level of skill, integrity, and ethics.
CCAL also welcomes two new members to the board: Brendan P. Bunn, Esq., and David J. Graf, Esq. Bunn is a community association attorney and shareholder at Chadwick, Washington, Moriarty, Elmore & Bunn in Fairfax, Va. He has been practicing community association law since 1993. His recent projects include the pursuit of condominium developer warranty claims and assisting clients in amending their governing documents. Graf is a partner at Moeller Graf in Englewood, Colo. He has practiced community association law exclusively since 2001, speaks nationally on community association law issues, and facilitates corporate training sessions.
Established in 1993 by the Community Associations Institute (CAI), CCAL provides a forum for lawyers specializing in the area of community association law to exchange information. Its goals include promoting high standards of professional and ethical responsibility, improving and advancing community association law and practice, and facilitating the development of educational materials and programming pertaining to legal issues.
Fellows of the College are lawyers who have demonstrated skill, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct and are dedicated to excellence in the specialized practice of community association law. They are involved in state and federal legislative activities and prepare amicus curiae (friend-of-the-court) briefs on critical judicial cases that affect common-interest communities.
CCAL provides advanced professional educational programs to its fellows and provides solutions to community association legal challenges. It is a collegial forum for the exchange and development of ideas by some of the most knowledgeable attorneys in the field.
