Wentworth Executive Elected President of CAI

12/20/2010  -  Alexandria, VA

Steven Y. Brumfield, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, vice president of operations for the National Lifestyle Division of Wentworth Property Management, has been elected the 38th president of Community Associations Institute (CAI), a national membership organization headquartered in Alexandria, Va. His one-year term begins Jan. 1, 2011.  Wentworth is headquartered in Eatontown, NJ.

Elected by the 14 members of CAI’s national Board of Trustees, Brumfield has served five years on the Board of Trustees and has served on the board of CAI’s Pennsylvania and Delaware Valley chapter, where he also served on several committees and task forces. As president of CAI, he will lead a national organization that recently surpassed the 30,000-member milestone and formed a chapter in South Africa—its first overseas affiliate.

"Serving as president of CAI is an opportunity not only to strengthen CAI, but also to enhance the collective effectiveness of our national organization and our 60 chapters,” said Brumfield. “My goal and the goal of the board is to make an already great organization even better. I look forward to finding new and better ways to serve our members and community associations, domestically and internationally."

Brumfield joined Wentworth as vice president of operations in 2008. In this role, he enhances operational practices and strengthens relationships between Wentworth and its clients, with a focus on large-scale community associations. He is responsible for supervising Wentworth’s large-scale community managers and executive directors across six different states.

Prior to joining Wentworth, Brumfield was the assistant director of community associations for a nationwide home builder. In this capacity, he oversaw the formation and management of several hundred developing community associations across 22 states and provided consulting services to numerous community associations and their members. He also worked as a senior community manager for a management firm in northern Virginia and as a community manager for a management firm in central Florida.

In addition to holding numerous national professional designations, Brumfield has been licensed by the state of Florida as a real estate broker and community association manager and has been certified in California as a community association manager. Prior to his career in association management, he spent several years as vice president of a family-owned custom-home building company. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Brumfield served in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in the Middle East in 1990 and 1991. He lives in Cochranville, Pennsylvania with his wife, Jennifer, and daughter, Evelyn.

CAI is dedicated to helping homeowner and condominium associations meet the expectations of their residents. CAI members include community management professionals, volunteer homeowner leaders, and businesses and professionals who support associations.
