Community Associations Institute (CAI), the leading international authority in community association education, governance, and management, is proud to announce its recognition as one of the 2018 “Best Nonprofits To Work For" by Best Companies Group. CAI was ranked number 40 among the nation's top 50 nonprofit organizations.
The honor is based on a two-part assessment process that contains an employer questionnaire and an employee survey. Organizations are ranked based on results from this data. The Employer Benefits & Policies Questionnaire captures important information about nonprofit policies, practices, and demographics as part one of the assessment. Part two consists of the Employee Engagement & Satisfaction Survey, which is analyzed and categorized according to eight core focus areas:
1. Leadership and planning
2. Corporate culture and communications
3. Role satisfaction
4. Work environment
5. Relationship with supervisor
6. Training, development, and resources
7. Pay and benefits
8. Overall engagement
Organizations honored for the 2018 “Best Nonprofits To Work For" scored at least an average 90 percent rating in six of those focus areas. CAI employees, who participated in the survey anonymously, shared the following positive feedback on CAI's Employer Benchmark Summary:
• I feel I am valued in this organization.
• I have confidence in the leadership of this organization.
• I like the type of work that I do.
• Most days, I feel I have made progress at work.
• I can trust what this organization tells me.
• At this organization, employees have fun at work.
• I feel part of a team working toward a shared goal.
• My pay is fair for the work I perform.
• This organization treats me like a person, not a number.
• This organization provides as much ongoing training as I need.
“At CAI, we strive to build employee performance through job experiences," says Jessica Ortiz, SHRM-CP, CAI's director of human resources. “During the past 40 years, CAI has been continuously recognized as 'The Best Workplaces for Commuters and received numerous workplace awards that give the organization and its employees high marks for success. We believe a flexible work environment combined with employee training, education, and compensation is reflective in our employee performance and productivity and a key component to recruiting and engaging top talent in today's workplace."
The national “Best Nonprofits To Work For" program, now in its ninth year, is managed by The NonProfit Times and the Best Companies Group. The award is a result of a survey and recognition program dedicated to finding and recognizing the best employers in the nonprofit industry.
