J. David Ramsey, a partner in the law firm of Hersh, Ramsey and Berman in Morristown, NJ, has been named president of the Community Associations Institute (CAI). Ramsey heads a new slate of officers and members of the Board of Trustees taking office for one year beginning March 1, 2003.

Headquartered in Alexandria, Va., CAI is a national organization dedicated to fostering vibrant, responsive, competent community associations. The 15,000-member organization and its 55 chapters represent homeowners, cooperatives, condominium and community associations and the professionals who provide products and services to planned communities.

CAI Officers

J. David Ramsey (president), Esq., a partner in the law firm of Hersh, Ramsey & Berman of Morristown, NJ., served as Treasurer of CAI's Board of Trustees in 2001, heads the real estate section of his law firm, and has more than 20 years of experience in community association law. An active member of the New Jersey and American Bar Associations, Ramsey serves on numerous committees related to community association and land development law. Mr. Ramsey has been a member of CAI's Board of Trustees since 1999, chair of CAI's Political Action Committee, and chair of CAI's Law Seminar Planning Committee. He regularly lectures and writes on matters concerning the community association field.

Paul D. Grucza (president-elect), CMCA, AMS, PCAM, is vice president and chief financial officer of Consolidated Community Management, Inc., AAMC, of Tamarac, FL. With more than two decades of experience in association management, Grucza manages his own association management firm, which represents dozens of community associations in a three-county area. Grucza has been active in CAI since 1987, as vice president of the Western New York Chapter for a number of years, and more recently, through participation as an instructor and strategist in CAI educational programs on the local, state and national levels. He was awarded CAI's 1999-2000 "Educator of the Year" award.

Howard A. Goldklang (vice president), CPA, is president of Goldklang, Cavanaugh & Associates, P.C., CPAs, in Fairfax, VA. In addition to his career in accounting, Goldklang, who has been an active member of the CAI Washington Metro Chapter for more than a decade, has been integrally involved in various CAI national activities. His roles have included serving as a member of a variety of task forces and committees, contributing to the development of a variety of reports, including his authorship of "The Role of the Association Treasurer," acting as a reviewer for courses and publications, serving as a speaker at various CAI conferences, and winning CAI's 1997-1998 "Award of Excellence in Membership."

Sandra K. Denton (secretary), CMCA, LSM, PCAM, is executive director of First Colony Community Association (FCCA) in Sugar Land, TX. FCCA is a large master-planned community southwest of Houston comprising more than 10,000 acres and more than 12,000 units. Under Denton, FCCA earned CAI's National Community Association of the Year Award (NCAYA) in 1998 and was inducted into the NCAYA Hall of Fame in 2000. Denton has been a member of the CAI Board of Trustees since 2001, has served on several committees and task forces, and has led various CAI educational sessions.

Marjorie J. Meyer (treasurer), CMCA, PCAM, is the founder of Prime Site, Inc., AAMC, a community association management company, in Houston, TX. With more than two decades of experience in property and community management, Meyer is a member of CAI's Hall of Fame, Century Club, Eagle Club and President's Club. She has also served as a trustee of CAI's Research Foundation. At the local level, she has served on the board of CAI's Greater Houston chapter, serves on CAI's Texas Legislative Action Committee and chairs the Houston chapter's Government Affairs Committee. Meyer has extensive experience researching and writing on the subject of community associations, is the author of numerous articles and has contributed to several books and reports on the topic of community associations.

Mitchell H. Frumkin (immediate past president), P.E., P.P., RS, is president of Kipcon Incorporated, a professional engineering consulting firm located in Highland Park, NJ. Mr. Frumkin is a past president of the New Jersey Chapter of CAI, has served as a national Trustee since 1996 and is a past Chair of the CAI Research Foundation, as well as editor and contributing author of the nationally published book, "A Complete Guide to Reserve Funding and Reserve Investment Strategies." He is a licensed engineer in 22 states.
