Community Associations Press, the publishing division of Community Associations Institute (CAI), has released the 2002 edition of its award-winning catalog. The new catalog highlights the six innovative titles—covering diverse areas such as self-management, forest management, risk management, among others—that have recently been added to its lineup of products.
Topping this year's list of new titles is "Decision Making in Communities: Why Groups of Smart People Sometimes Make Bad Decisions," a fascinating look at how boards function, as seen through the lens of a social psychologist. Until now, the often-studied subject of group dynamics has never looked at how those dynamics actually function in a community association setting.
Also expected to generate positive buzz in the community association field are the first two self-study modules in the brand-new CAI Skill Builders professional development series: "Managing Workplace Communications" and "Producing Compelling Reports."
As in last year's catalog, this edition also incorporates humor. "Our award-winning 2001 catalog included humorous vignettes, highlighting what happens when community associations don't take advantage of the vast amount of information available in this catalog," said Senior Vice President, Kris Cook, CAE. "It was so successful, we've included new vignettes in the 2002 catalog."
The 2002 bookstore catalog organizes the Community Associations Press offerings of nearly 100 products, grouping titles conveniently in topic areas such as board member resources, insurance, legal resources, policies and rules, meetings, finances, enforcement issues, contracting, governance, and more. Materials include books, manuals, video and audio tapes, brochures, workbooks, proceedings, home and self study courses, magazines, and newsletters, professional education courses—even coffee mugs and golf shirts. CAI's members receive 40 percent off the retail price of catalog offerings.
