Community Associations Institute Announces D&O Insurance Endorsement

5/9/2002  -  Alexandria, VA

The Community Associations Institute (CAI) has announced its endorsement for the Directors’ & Officers’ Liability Insurance Program for Non-Profit Community Associations offered by Ian H. Graham (IHG), community association insurance specialists. The Program is underwritten by CNA, one of the largest insurance companies in America.

Thomas M. Skiba, Chief Executive Officer of CAI, noted: "We look forward to continuing to work with such a fine agency as IHG, which places such emphasis on quality, simplicity and service. IHG's new partnership with CNA brings a high level of expertise, superlative benefits and a commitment to service that will benefit community associations across America."

More than 231,000 associations will be eligible to apply for the IHG's Directors’ & Officers’ (D&O) CAI-endorsed program.

According to Ken Laba, Executive Vice President at IHG, the new coverage has been the result of extensive input from both CNA and IHG's producer network and from covered associations. "We really listened when we were developing our D&O Program. We worked closely with CNA and our insured members to develop a program that really meets the needs of community associations and their directors and officers. The result is a program that's broad-based, flexible and backed by a total commitment to professional service and fair, fast claims handling." According to CAI's Skiba: "IHG's coverage will provide community association directors and officers with one of the broadest D&O liability coverages available to community associations today. The program also includes regular input from risk management professionals, and a continued emphasis on development, based on the changing needs of our members. The fact that CNA, the program's underwriter, is rated ‘A’ (Excellent) by A.M. Best is also a major benefit."

In addition to these benefits, IHG's D&O Liability Insurance program features a number of new and enhanced benefits, designed to provide greater value and a higher level of service. New benefits include a lower minimum premium of $600, available in most states; coverage for the association's property manager, at no additional premium; and the ability to select legal counsel from a panel of firms approved by CNA. Service enhancements include the issuance of policies directly through IHG, and a new specimen policy available by fax, mail or online, at http://www.ihginsurance.com.
