CAI Launches New Resource for Employers and Job Seekers

10/15/2007  -  Alexandria, VA

Community Associations Institute (CAI) has launched a new state-of-art, online resource for employers and job seekers in the community association industry. The comprehensive, user-friendly service is powered by one of the leading providers of career website technology.

Accessed through CAI's online Career Center, Job Market is dedicated exclusively to the community association marketplace. It replaces CAI's Job Bank, a job site with job listings and resumes, but with far less functionality.

For individuals, Job Market is a free, secure and convenient way to market themselves to management companies, associations, law and accounting firms and other professional service providers. Job seekers can post their profiles anonymously and apply for jobs for free. The profiles can remain posted indefinitely, and employers can access all profiles for free. If a recruiter or employer is interested in a particular profile, the candidate's resume is provided to the employer—but only if the job seeker grants permission. The fee ($35 for members, $60 for non-members) for each resume is paid by the employer. There is no cost to the job seeker.

The site also provides an advanced job-alert system that notifies candidates of new opportunities matching their specific criteria.

For recruiters and employers, Job Market is an easy, effective and low-cost way to find experienced community managers, attorneys, accountants and other professionals. The member cost to post job openings is $195—$100 off the non-member rate.

"Compare the $195 member price to the cost of generic job-search websites, newspaper helped-wanted listings or the fees charged by some professional search consultants," says CAI Chief Executive Officer Thomas M. Skiba, CAE. "Employers can pay four or five hundred dollars to list jobs on more generic websites—and even thousands in fees to find the right employee."

As part of a special introductory offer for employers, positions posted by March 1, 2008, will remain active for 60 days, instead of the standard 30.

"This enhanced member benefit is designed to connect employers and job seekers, and that's especially important in a growing and dynamic industry," Skiba says. "There is an acute shortage of experienced community managers in many areas of the country, and we know that other service providers also can struggle to find good talent. We're confident this new resource will help employers find the professionals they need, and we think the dynamic functionality of the site will attract even more people from other professions who want to explore career opportunities in the community association business."

More than 250 resumes were posted on Job Bank during the previous six months. Employers posted more than 650 jobs during the same period. CAI expects Job Market to generate even more traffic, especially since job-seeker profiles can be anonymous.
