The 20th annual Community Associations Institute (CAI) Large-Scale Community Managers Workshop is slated for Sept. 20-24, 2000, in sunny Delray Beach, Florida. This is the opportunity of the year for managers of large-scale communities to meet and network with other professionals, as well as tour some premiere properties, and take in valuable education sessions.
This year, there are four host communities for the Large-Scale Managers Workshop. Quail Ridge is a private, member-owned, country club community with two championship golf courses, 14 tennis courts and 947 homes sitting on 578 acres. Boca Pointe is a master planned community started in 1981, and consists of 28 villages. Laid out over 1,000 acres, Boca Pointe offers more than 4,000 residences, and amenities such as a Jack Nicklaus championship golf course, fitness center and tennis courts.
Frenchman's Creek boasts 770 acres with the promise to not exceed 610 residences. The community is situated around two of the most famous 18-hole golf courses in Florida, and is the only community in South Florida to offer a beach club. Loblolly Bay is a private gated community in Hobe Sound that offers an 81-slip condominium marina, dining club, 67 estate homes, residential association and a property owners association. Attendees of the Large-Scale Managers Workshop will have the opportunity to visit each of these communities, as well as talk to, and network with, the managers of each association.
In addition to the property tours and networking opportunities, several education sessions are planned. Topics include employment issues, emergency management, developing teamwork, board/manager relationships, board orientations, micromanagement issues, leading your board through strategic planning, new technology in gate access and much more.
