April 4, 2017—Falls Church, VA— 80,000,000 hours of volunteer service is performed each year by community association board members, according to the "2015 Statistical Review," by Community Associations Institute (CAI), the leading authority in community association governance, management and education. In honor of National Volunteer Month, CAI is proud to announce the recipients for the 2017 Outstanding Board Member Leadership Award. The honor recognizes the commitment and dedication of hundreds of community association leaders that serve the 68 million Americans living in condominiums, co-ops and homeowners associations.
CAI's 2017 Community Association Volunteers Committee (CAVC) selected the six award winners and overall winner. The overall winner was awarded to John Everitt from Worthington Glen Condominiums, Louisville, KY. Everitt successfully lead extensive fundraising campaigns for well-needed community association costs that ended up saving his association. He is described as an invaluable asset to his Board and stops at nothing to do great work for his community and the people who serve the Board.
"I am honored to accept this prestigious award," said Everitt. Everitt added, "I have to say that our association's success is due to partnering with our management company (Paragon Management Group), who strongly supports CAI and all they stand for. We work as a single team to promote the best interests of our association. The best practices CAI espouses for Community Associations and management companies have served us well."

- Betsy Koehler, Harbor Gate Homeowners Association, San Pedro, Calif.
- John Geyerman, Kings Mill Homeowners Association, Mansfield, Texas
- John Spillane, Meadows Community Association, Inc., Sarasota, Fla.
- Peter Derrenbacher, Saw Creek Estates Community Association, Inc., Bushkill, Pa.
"Community associations worldwide exist today because of the men and women who volunteer their time representing the best interests of their community," said Thomas M. Skiba, CAE, CAI's chief executive officer. "These volunteers are our family members, a friend living down the street, or a neighbor who lives on the floor above and it's because of their hard work, that our communities continue to thrive."
