CAI hosted an unparalleled opportunity where more than 100 CAI leaders met with Congressional representatives to discuss regulations and laws that impact the 69 million Americans who reside in community associations, through its 2018 Advocacy Summit.
Held one day prior to the 2018 CAI Annual Conference and Exposition, the one-day advocacy event took place on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the U.S. Capitol. CAI also honored Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla) and Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) as Heroes of Associations. Sen. Nelson and Rep. Sanford's deep understanding of the community association housing model and their leadership in Congress is incredibly valuable to this housing demographic.

The purpose of the Summit was to:- Meet with Members of Congress to provide them with information about important community association issues.
- Engage in strategic conversation regarding federal and state legislative priorities.
- Exchange information about technology resources for grassroots efforts, position statements, talking points and model legislation.
- Hear from federal regulatory officials on topics of interest for community associations including housing finance, disaster recovery, flood insurance, and more.
